Bill Michaels is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio although he has been a resident of Wisconsin since March, 1999.
Each day from 10am-2pm (CT) LIVE, Bill talks with them all, sports correspondents from Milwaukee to Green Bay to Madison, from New York to L.A. and everywhere in between; all of the newsmakers in the world of sports from Ryan Braun to Robin Yount, from Greg Jennings to Bart Star from JJ Watt to James Lofton to Chris Collinsworth and all of the names that make the games so special.
Bill is the voice of volunteerism, the emcee of choice for just about anything from the Vince Lombardi Award of Excellence to college commencement speeches. Bill is an avid golfer, boater and admitted sports junkie. He’s the guy who will teach your wife and kids sports 101 and tell it like it is to the avid sports fan.
As a kid, Bill grew up watching the “Big Red Machine” of the Cincinnati Reds. He still remembers running out on to his front porch ringing a cow bell when the Reds beat the Red Sox in the 1975 World series.
Bill’s very first sports talk show, it was his thrill to have Pete Rose, Johnny Bench and Sparky Anderson as his guests.
Another memorable moment in Bill’s life, while he was an intern at WCPO Channel 9, he had the intimidating experience of covering Bob Huggins and Bobby Knight’s pressers after the Hoosiers knocked off the Cincinnati Bearcats.
One other incredible broadcasting experience came when Bill had the chance to fulfill his lifelong dream of calling Major League Baseball game. Bill’s idols growing up were Al Michaels, Marty Breneman and Joe Nuxhall (All Reds Broadcaster). While Bob Uecker was being inducted into Baseball’s Hall of Fame, Bill filled Ueck’s seat in the broadcast booth as the Milwaukee Brewers took on the Colorado Rockies in Denver. Bill teamed up with Wayne Larrivee for the series. Since then (2003), Bill has honed his play by play skills, calling numerous games, over the last 8 Brewers seasons.
Some day, Bill would like to return to the play-by-play booth.
