The Other Side Of One-And-Done

Senior night, always a time to celebrate the journey of a college education as well as the hard work you put in over the last 4 years.  Bettering yourself in so many ways.  Early mornings in the weight room.  Late nights studying both a play book and completing your coursework.

This past week at Kentucky, there wasn’t a senior night.  With so many one-and-dones, there wasn’t anyone around to celebrate the 4 year achievement.

Then I got a chance to know, a little better, Bucks G Malcom Brogdon.  Did you know he was at Virginia for 5 years?  He red-shirted his sophomore year.  When he was rehabbing his injury, he decided to accelerate his education.  Not only was he celebrated on Senior Night, he completed not 1 but 2 Master’s degrees.

“One day, when the ball stops bouncing, all you will have is yourself staring back at you in the mirror and that’s when you had better have a plan B and that’s why you need an education”.

I couldn’t have said it better myself.
