First half….Gallardo, Peralta and everyone else but Lohse was bad, period.
If you’re the Brewers upper management and you go into the 2014 season hoping that Peralta, Gallardo, Estrada, Burgos, Thornburg or anyone else who hasn’t proven themselves consistently as of late, are going to be better, you’re fooling yourself at the expense of the fans money.
Yes; Braun, Gomez, Davis, Segura, Ioki and Lucroy are all expected….not hoping…but EXPECTED to be performing well early on and not only when you’re so far out of it that your post-season aspirations have fallen by the wayside.
Watching the Brewers pitching staff throw well once the pressure of success is off doesn’t cut it anymore. Potential is just that, potential and a very ugly word if it’s never realized.
Melvin needs some capital to spend on a good, solid starting pitcher or two and the ability to sign quality to the corners at 3rd and 1st base. Has Davis done enough to push his way in to the everyday outfield line-up? Let’s see at Maryvale next year.
One thing’s for sure, if the Brewers starters are the same ole same ole and this team tanks early again, hoping for a better outcome when you’ve rolled out mere images of the last couple of seasons is plain old obstinance and ignorance all rolled into one.
