Ragu’s Ramblings – What History Tells Us About Picking 28th

The NFL Draft starts Thursday by my count – I’m pretty sure that’s right although it may be sooner if the NFL has decided to make it a four or five day process because it’s not stretched thin already and everyone knows if the NFL doesn’t do something everyday to keep itself at the top of the news cycle people will forget it exists.

So yes, that’s some sarcasm and no, I’m not the biggest fan of the spectacle called the NFL Draft. It’s too long, and is heavy on analysis that at best is read from a scouting report and at worst is blind guesswork.… Read the rest

NFL Players Were Coerced; Are You Kidding

Posted in Uncategorized

NFL Commissioner Rodger Goodell has not yet handed down punishments for the “Bounty Gate” scandal.  Why you ask?

Because NFLPA Director, DeMaurice Smith, says that his players were coerced into participating and paying for the bounties by their coaches, namely Greg Williams.

Are you telling me, that not one..NOT ONE veteran could have stood up and said “NO”.  Mr. Smith, are you telling me, with a straight face mind you, that your players aren’t capable of standing up and stating that they will not participate in an act that targets others within the brethren to purposefully injure?   Is that what you’re really expecting us to believe?… Read the rest

Uthoff’s Ban Lifted But Look At HIS Character

Posted in Uncategorized

Jarrod Uthoff has been cleared to contact any school outside the Big Ten  Conference.  Athletic director Barry Alvarez, associate  athletic director Justin Doherty and head basketball coach Bo Ryan decided  Thursday afternoon to lift all “permission to contact” restrictions except for  league schools.

Did Ryan suddenly decide that the media attention wasn’t worth it?  Did he finally get to hear the true reasons, from Uthoff himself as to why he wanted to transfer out of the program?  Did Alvarez go over Ryan’s head?  Whatever the reason, the UW program now rids itself, right or wrong, of the national media scrutiny it’s been under.… Read the rest
