The NFL is investigating at least one team who asked a player at the combine if he liked girls.
I understand if you ask a prospect if has a girlfriend. You want to find out about their maturity; have they loved and lost, are they settled or still somewhat of a “wild child” but to ask if they like girls?
To me, that question doesn’t pass the “uncomfortable” test.
I’m not breaking any states secrets when I tell you that an NFL locker room is completely different than any Fortune 500 Boardroom, the two areas are completely apples to oranges.
In today’s day and age, sexual orientation shouldn’t be an issue when it comes to employment period. In the NFL though, don’t you find it odd that not one current player admits that he is of an alternative lifestyle?
I don’t know when or if we’ll ever get an NFL player to “come out of the closet” while he’s still in the locker room but I do know that asking him to do so before he’s even signed his name on the dotted line isn’t right.
If the NFL investigates and finds that a team has indeed asked this type of question, I hope that the discipline is as hard on that team and front office staff as Goodell has been on the players that dislike him so much.
