Packers fans witnessed their beloved team give up 409 yards rushing to Adrian Peterson in two regular season meetings.
The Colts Reggie Wayne collected 13 catches for 212 yards and a TD vs. Green Bay.
Drew Brees of the Saints shredded Dom Capers secondary for 446 yards and 3 TDs.
Calvin Johnson of the Lions garnered 15 catches for 261 yards vs. the Packers this season.
And then, most recently, there is Colin Kaepernick who single-handedly blew the Packers out of the post-season by racking up a combined 544 yards and 4 touchdowns.
While the Packers defense got statistically better this season (11th overall), these bloated numbers leave some glaring questions.
At the Packers head coaches “end of the season” press conference, Mike McCarthy was asked specifically about Dom Capers and his future with the franchise. McCarthy’s response, ” I think it’s ridiculous that I have to answer the question, frankly. I’m appalled by it.”
I’m usually one who stands directly behind McCarthy but frankly I’m appalled that he’s appalled.
Coach, the whole world just witnessed your defense get their collective rear ends handed to them with no real semblance of scheme or ability to counter what Kaepernick and the 49ers were throwing at them. The question’s legit.
And if I may….speaking for Packers fans everywhere, watching your Packers on Saturday night get out played and out coached in every facet of that divisional playoff game frankly….we were appalled.
