NFL; Why Aren’t Concussions Top Of Mind?

I’m not a big fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ James Harrison’ but I must say, I agree with him.

Harrison recently admitted that he has suffered double digit concussions in his 10 plus year playing career. This season, Harrison has been playing with a small piece of CRT padding in his helmet to help protect him from any further head trauma.  Since placing the Concussion Reduction Technology in his helmet, Harrison hasn’t suffered any concussion-like symptoms.

Now the CRT, manufactured by Unequal Technologies, doesn’t claim to prevent concussions but the evidence certainly shows that it’s working in that direction.

But here’s where I agree with Harrison; the NFL is mandating that all players wear knee and thigh pads next year.  Harrison wondered out loud, “You’d think that they’d be focusing more on the helmet”.  While I don’t agree with his cheap shots on the field, I agree with his sentiment off of it.
