The Erosion Of ESPN’s Credibility
RSS No Comments | Posted by Bill on October 24, 2012

Whenever anything happens in the world of sports at some point we turn to the 4-letter network, ESPN, to see the highlights or hear the commentary.  Now we find out that the tail has been wagging the sports dog.

Stan Van Gundy was supposed to be hired as a character and studio analyst for ESPN’s NBA coverage.  Instead, the league stepped in and told ESPN it wouldn’t be a good idea if Van Gundy, who has criticized the league and, more specifically, the commissioner David Stern, to hire Van Gundy.

The news media has always seemed to have an agenda, now more than ever unfortunately.  The world of sports has been somewhat of a safe haven from such reporting biases, until now.

It’s one thing to have a partnership, an investment in a league if you will, it’s another to allow that very league to dictate your content and to compromise your impartiality.

As my dad used to say on the dairy farm we frequented, you can’t put the s__#$ back in the horse.

ESPN’s stepped in the integrity pile.
