The NFL Commissioners office has sent out a mandate to owners, GM’s and coaches; lay off of the replacement officials or you’ll have to answer to the “Dean of Discipline”, Rodger Goddell.

After watching the Broncos head coach John Fox and the 49ers head man Jim Harbaugh try to intimidate the temporary governors of the game, I got the sense that things were starting to slip away from the from the temp refs.  Thus the principal calling you to his office if you don’t straighten up mister.

While I completely agree with the league taking a stand to curb the berating, it’s the hypocritical reasoning of the NFL that makes me shake my head..  According to the NFL executive Vice President Ray Anderson, “We contacted them to remind them that everyone has a responsibility to respect the game.’

Ray, you’re killing me.  If you really respected the game, you’d get off your butt and into a room where you can bargain with the locked out refs to get them back on the field so fans who are paying top dollar for your games aren’t seeing a diminished product.

Mr. Anderson, if you’re going to do that to the football loving public, at least buy us dinner first.
