It looks like Barry Alvarez has found his man. Utah State’s head football Coach Gary Andersen will take over as the successor to Brett Bielema.
It’s a little bit of an odd hire since Andersen seems to lean more to a spread offense than the Big Ten traditional “ground and pound”.
In the previous 4 years prior to Andersen’s arrival at Utah State the program was 9 and 38. After Andersen’s arrival, the Utes went 26-22 but he had an 11-2 mark this past season.
From the sources I’ve talked to, Andersen’s a solid recruiter and a great motivator of men.
Is this the right hire? In Alvarez we trust right?
Right or wrong, seeing a Wisconsin Badgers offense open up and take consistent shots down-field while still running the ball to a certain extent, this should be fun.
Oh by the way, Andersen has coached at Utah State as well as Southern Utah…..I think Madison might be a bit of a culture shock for the man that has lived among the Mormons for such a long time.
I’ve never been a fan of Terrell Owens but he had it right when he said “get your popcorn ready”.

Don’t know alot about him, this hire well under the radar, was this a fallback hire? Now all we need is coaches.
