After the sexual assault allegations against Paul Wollersheim surfaced and were subsequently dismissed, the Whitefish Bay Dominican Head Boys Basketball Coach has decided to resign. The coach announced his resignation on THE BILL MICHAELS SHOW today.
It is with some sadness that I have resigned my duties at Dominican High School. For the past 20+ years I have worked with amazing kids, parents and colleagues – they energized me on a daily basis.
The recent false allegations against me have been a nightmare for me and my family. More than anything, it has helped me understand what’s most important in my life. My wife and family have been amazing throughout this ordeal as have many of my closest friends – without that support, I am not sure I would have found the strength in myself to get through this situation.
It now seems clearer than ever that it is time for me to move on from Dominican. As my family demands over the past two years have grown – so too have my responsibilities at Dominican – I don’t think the Lord could be any more direct with me that the focus and priority of my life should go in the direction of my family and I look forward to the joy and challenges that brings.
My memories of Dominican will always be special – no one can take that away. This past basketball season was one of the most enjoyable and rewarding seasons of my coaching career. My players, parents and assistant coaches over the past 20 years have been an inspiration to me and I hope to continue those relationships for the rest of my life.
