6 years ago, Charles Woodson was brought in to the Packers organization by Ted Thompson. A reclamation project? Far from it; more like a change of scenery for a very talented corner wasting away in Oakland.
Once in Green Bay, Charles Woodson shined brightly recording 427 tackles, 37 interceptions (returning 9 for touchdowns)< !0 sacks, 14 forced fumbles and recovered 6.
While compiling those numbers, Woodson led the Packers to a Super Bowl win during the 2010-11 season.
Now at age 36 the speculation is that Woodson has “lost a step” and needs to play more safety than his career position of cornerback. In reality, Woodson doesn’t care where he plays as long as the Packers win, “It’s a title (Safety), I don’t care where I play as long as we win”, Woodson stated on my show. Woodson also told me that he’s willing to move to safety full time if that’s what it takes to get back to another Super Bowl, “We had a taste and I want it again, I want more”.
Charles Woodson’s words carry heavy weight within the walls of 1265 Lombardi Avenue. He could demand to play anywhere divide the locker room in his favor but Woodson just wants to win and doesn’t care how he gets back to the Super Bowl…..as long as the Packers get there. If I were tweeting about Woodson, I’d hash-tag #UNSELFISH or #LEADER.
